While a visit to Lake Fork is a great way to cool off during the heat of summer and gives you the ability to explore quaint small towns around the lake like Mineola and Sulphur Springs, it’s no secret that Lake Fork is big news in the world of fishing. Thousands of anglers flock to its waters each year not just for solo fishing, but to take part in some of the most exciting fishing tournaments around. What’s on offer in the way of fishing tournaments?
Lake Fork Classic
The Lake Fork Classic is one of the largest events to take place on the lake, and it has raised over $183,000 since its inception in 2010, with all proceeds going to Camp John Marc. This tournament is presented by a non-profit organization, rather than an equipment manufacturer. In addition to the fun of the fishing competition, there will also be a gun raffle with a wide range of firearms and accessories as prizes. Only 500 tickets will be offered. You can learn more about the tournament and raffle here.
Yantis Catfish Classic
The Yantis Catfish Classic kicks off in late April 2019, and lasts for two days (the 27 and 28), running from 7 AM until 3 PM. The tournament offers $25,000 in payouts and is open to amateurs. Entry is $125 for two days, or $100 for one day, and all proceeds go to benefit the Yantis Volunteer Fire Department. Note that if you reserve your spot after April 24, entry costs go up to $135 for two days and $110 for one day. Children under 10 years of age can fish free with a paid adult admission.

All proceeds of the tournament go to Shriners Hospitals for Children Shriners Burns Hospital.
